VERTICES: GEOMETRY MEETS ART

Vertices: Geometry Meets Art focuses on Ohio's Academic Content Standards in Geometry and Visual Art for grades K-2. Components of the project include Professional Development videos for educators, including pre-assessment tips, questioning strategies, building an effective rubric and effective feedback techniques; student videos on predicting new shapes, recognizing geometric shapes, creating 3-D objects and building 3-D buildings; lesson plans and assessment tools; Careers in Math videos, and additional resources.

SPEAK UP! FOR THE ARTS

Speak Up! For the Arts is an Arts Advocacy Toolkit for parents and teachers that helps demonstrate why the arts are important in the education process and how to develop your voice for the arts. We have partnered with Ohio Citizens for the Arts and the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education to provide the most current and effective advocacy materials to help you work to keep the arts in your school. The Speak Up! For the Arts toolkit includes a DVD with two videos. In the first DVD, teachers, parents, administrators and artists speak up about the impact the arts have on learning and the need to support arts education. In the second DVD you'll find practical advice about how to meet with your state and local representatives. The website features PDF files to help you with talking points, advocacy strategies, self-tests for your school district and the latest arts education research.

TEST THE WATERS
Grade 11

Test the Waters is a standards based multi-media project designed to help eleventh grade students and community members understand the processes involved in providing safe and clean water for drinking and recreation. Test the Waters video takes an inside look at water treatment facilities as local water quality experts discuss the issues that threaten this precious resource. Through the video and the accompanying resources, students will learn how our community is working to address the problems caused by aging water infrastructure and what actions citizens can take to be good stewards of our water supply. Test the Waters is based on the Academic Content Standards in Science and Social Studies.

OHIO ROCKS!
Grades 3-5

Ohio Rocks! is a CET Learning Services project designed to provide teachers with knowledge of Ohio's geologic features, standards-based lessons, on-demand videos and resources for teaching. Ohio Rocks! is a CET project in partnership with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological Survey and the Cincinnati Museum Center. Ohio Rocks! is made possible by a grant from eTech Ohio.

FITNESS FANATIC
Grades 5-8

Fitness Fanatic is a multimedia curriculum kit focusing on fitness resources for middle school students and their teachers and parents. The kit will include six video programs and an accompanying resource guide. The videos feature fitness expert and syndicated columnist Dave Patania with local students who participate in activities as diverse as skateboarding and dance. Dave will show kids that many of the things they already enjoy can contribute to their overall fitness level, and the accompanying educational materials for teachers and parents will underscore that message. Funding for Fitness Fanatic is made possible by generous funding from the Charles H. Dater Foundation and from the Helen G., Henry F., and Louise Tuechter Dornette Foundation.

ARTS REVOLUTION
Grades Pre K-6

Through Arts Revolution's exploration of dance, music, theatre and visual arts students learn about art and creativity through observation and participation. The DVD includes examples of middle and high school students participating in ballet, Indian dance, classical music, steel drum music, musical theatre, video production, graphic arts and sculpture. Interviews with these students examine why they participate in art and what they have learned through their experiences. Introductory arts integrated lessons are included for teachers that connect one art form to an academic area and all lessons are aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards. Each of the lessons has an arts component so that every student has the opportunity to explore the arts and his/her own creativity. Assessment strategies are also included.

JOEL'S LIBRARY JAM
Grades K-2

CET Learning Services created Joel's Library Jam as a fun and exciting way to encourage young children to love reading and the library. This set of multimedia materials supports teachers, school librarians and parents of children in grades K-2. Featuring books and activities that will engage children and adults together in the enjoyment of reading, it encourages class and family visits to school and public libraries. The activities have been aligned with Ohio's academic library, language arts and fine arts content standards for grades K-2.

CULTURE COLLAGE - OUR HISTORY THROUGH ART
Grades 3-5

Culture Collage uses a variety of technologies to introduce teachers and students to the exciting world of arts and technology integration. Through video, CD-ROM, and distance learning sessions with artists, the study of the immigrant cultures that developed the state of Ohio is brought to life. This project connects with numerous 3rd – 5th grade academic content standards in social studies, language arts, dance, music, theatre and visual arts.

SAFE PASSAGE
Grades 6-9

Safe Passage is a multimedia curriculum based on Ohio's academic standards in language arts and social studies for sixth- through ninth-graders. By engaging in this hands-on experience featuring the Underground Railroad, both teachers and students begin their own journeys. They explore the theme through powerful fiction and nonfiction reading, thought-provoking writing assignments and the moving stories of the people and places of the Underground Railroad.

PRODUCING OHIO: CREATING OUR ECONOMY
Grades 4-6

Producing Ohio: Creating Our Economy is an interactive multimedia economics curriculum for Ohio's fifth and sixth grade students. These dynamic and entertaining cross-curricular lessons give students the knowledge and tools necessary to succeed on the Ohio Proficiency Tests.

BEHIND THE GLASS
Grades 4-6

Behind the Glass targets students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades and provides resources to teachers and students to increase their understanding of the visual arts as a tool for teaching and learning in all curricular areas and is a multimedia learning experience for students using the Cincinnati Art Museum's Steckelmann Collection of African Art.
