Dr. Philip Gossett, a faculty member at the University of Chicago, is one of the world’s foremost experts on opera. He serves as general editor of
The Works of Verdi and has authored two books on Donizetti, as well as
Divas and Scholars: Performing Italian Opera, which won the Otto Kinkeldey Award of the American MusicolÂogical Society as ''the best book on music of the year.''
