Al Schottelkotte

For two generations, Al Schottelkotte at WCPO was at the helm of Cincinnati's highest-rated TV news, a fast-paced, photo-jammed program headed by a dry, diminutive man who was the antithesis of nearly everything the experts say an anchorman should be. His staccato delivery and high story count - upped by zipping from one 30-second story to another - became the standard for Cincinnati newscasts and a formula emulated nationwide. Schottelkotte died on Christmas day 1996.

Al sat down with Nick Clooney in January of 1991 for this discussion.
