African Americans in Greater Cincinnati who have successfully met and overcome major life challenges are honored at the fifth annual Profiles In Courage recognition program, sponsored by Fifth Third Bank, WCPO, the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati, the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Herald. Those honored in 2007 are Brian Frazier, Rodney E. Jackson, Holly Sowels-Jenkins, Teresa Nared and Lamont Taylor.
WCPO has taped vidoe profiles of the winners. Jenell Walton emcees the event, and special speakers include UC President Nancy Zimpher, Fifth Third Bank President Bob Sullivan, artist Annie Ruth, Cincinnati Herald Publisher Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney, UC Vice President Mitchel Livingston,Urban League of Greater Cincinnati President Donna Jones-Banker, and Fifth Third Community Engagement & Volunteer Program Officer Gail Williams.
