Privacy -- why should I care?
Privacy - I haven't done anything wrong, so why do I care how much information is floating around about me? Ben Franklin is quoted as saying, "Those who give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." We can appreciate Franklin's sentiments, but in a post-911 environment, many people are willing to give up a little freedom, to increase our security. Even if you believe the government should have Carte blanch to our personal lives, how much information should our employers know about us? Friends, neighbors and relatives can access very personal information about our families. We might be bothered by some information available from various sources, but some contain information that even if we don't "need" to know, we really "want" to know. Links you may want to use:
