Voices of Giving: Harry and Ann Santen
Harry and Ann Santen have been generous benefactors of CISE for nearly 30 years including serving on the Advisory board and Executive Committee. The 2003 annual campaign he chaired raised more than $2 million for the critical operating needs of 8 CISE schools. Having spent a year teaching at a CISE school in Over-the-Rhine, where 90% of students live under the federal poverty line, Harry knows all too well the challenges faced by inner city youth. Therefore, they are extremely dedicated to improving the odds for success for disadvantaged inner-city students. Their devotion to CISE has resulted in scholastic achievement, leadership development and graduation from both high school and college for students who, otherwise, might never have had such opportunities. Harry and Ann were among the very first to join CISE's newly established legacy giving society: ''The challenges will remain long after we are gone. With our bequest, we want the work we have started to continue.'' And, indeed it will - improving the lives of CISE students - and strengthening our entire community, as well - for generations to come.
