The Time Team is tackling four new archaeological mysteries on the next two Tuesdays in the new season of Time Team America. From an 1830s plantation to the bones of a massive bison, these new episodes are full of exciting new challenges.

If you missed Time Team America’s first season, here’s what the show is about… Time Team America plunges the viewer into the grime and glory of real-life archaeology: epiphany and exhaustion, discovery and disappointment. Through the dirt, the sweat, the dust and the rain, archeologists explore the mysteries of the past through what they find buried below the ground. Part adventure, part hard science, part reality show, this program applies the latest technology and the team’s collective expertise to solving the riddles of the past — against a ticking clock. The team has just three days to find out what it can at each site.

Here’s the full schedule for Time Team America season two.

The Search for Josiah Henson

Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 8pm on CET and ThinkTV16

Tucked between upscale homes in suburban Maryland just outside Washington, DC, are the remains of an 1830’s plantation — once home to Josiah Henson, the slave who inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe’s famous novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin. What remains here of his life and legacy?

Bones of Badger Hole

Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 9pm on CET and ThinkTV16

In western Oklahoma, the bones of massive 10,000-year-old bison mingle with the remnants of early man-made weapons. What strategies did hunters use against these mammoth beasts before the advent of bows and arrows? What can these bison bones teach us about our ancient past?

Lost Civil War Prison

Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 8pm on CET and ThinkTV16

Camp Lawton, near Milan, Georgia, housed 10,000 Union prisoners at the end of the Civil War. The remains of the camp have long been lost to history. Can the team find the original site of the camp? What artifacts are buried beneath the ground and what do they tell us of the hellish experiences of the prisoners once held captive here?

Lost Pueblo Village

Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 9pm on CET and ThinkTV16

The site of what is believed to have been a 1,200-year-old village is located near Mesa Verde, Colorado, where ancient peoples built one of the first permanent settlements in North America. What did this settlement look like and how did life here shape human history?

Austin City Limits, the longest-running music program in television history, has come a long way since the Willie Nelson program used as a pledge program in 1975. The show, still true to its roots, now celebrates and features music of many genres and draws an audience no one could have imagined 40 years ago.
But in addition to bringing us the weekly shows that air on CET and ThinkTV, Austin City Limits has amassed close to 130 video clips from the program and put them into our PBS On Demand system. That means you can watch clips and performances featuring everyone from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Nine Inch Nails and Dale Watson to Kacey Musgraves.
Here’s a personal favorite featuring the Steve Miller Band performing “Jet Airliner” in 2011:
