"Last Days in Vietnam" and "Between Two Worlds"
We’ll be airing the Academy Award-nominated Rory Kennedy documentary Last Days in Vietnam followed by our local documentary Between Two Worlds (Dayton’s Vietnamese-American Community) back-to-back on Tuesday evening.
Last Days in Vietnam – which will air at 9pm Tuesday, April 28, on ThinkTV16 – was released in some theatres last year and viewers were able to get a glimpse of the program through our On Demand system in early February, but this is the first time the show will be broadcast locally on-air. The documentary follows of the story of the Americans who took matters into their own hands at the end of the Vietnam War to save as many South Vietnamese as possible while the North Vietnamese army closed in on Saigon. We have a gallery of videos, including an extended trailer, available at http://www.thinktv.org/air/featured-programs/last-days-vietnam/.
Between Two Worlds: Dayton’s Vietnamese-American Community will begin at 11pm Tuesday, April 28, on CET and ThinkTV16. This ThinkTV-produced program premieres on Friday, April 24, at 9pm on ThinkTV16, but we’ve scheduled an encore of the show immediately following Last Days in Vietnam to offer viewers another perspective of the story.
In Between Two Worlds, seven Vietnamese immigrants working and living in the Dayton area talk about where they were when the North Vietnamese overran Saigon, why they chose to escape and how they are making a life for themselves in America. The seven are diverse – ranging from government workers who were airlifted out on a U.S. Air Force jet, to poor farmers who took their chances in a leaky boat.
