“Nature” premieres the new chilling episode “Snow Bears” November 28
Last Updated by
In the freezing arctic, where the temperature is well below zero, a polar bear must lead her newborn cubs across the frozen tundra in order to feed. On their way, they must face many dangers—extreme weather, snowdrifts and ice cracks just to name a few. Witness this extraordinary adventure in Nature: Snow Bears, which airs Wednesday, November 28, at 8pm on CET and ThinkTV16 and Tuesday, December 4, at 8pm on ThinkTV14.
After months of winter hibernation, the return of summer to the Arctic means that polar bears must make the 400-mile trek to the edge of the ice surrounding the North Pole. This area is abundant with seals, their favorite food. Timing for the journey is crucial – if they don’t leave the island in time, the sea ice will be gone, which means they could be marooned for the summer.
Before the mother and her two cubs can begin their journey, they will encounter their first threat, two large males searching for a mate. Since males sometimes kill cubs so they can mate with the mother, the mother must defend herself and her cubs. This will be the first of many threatening encounters this family will meet on their journey for survival.
You can expect to see more than polar bears in this intense event – the show features seals, walruses, whales and so much more. You won’t want to miss this epic journey, which is narrated by Kate Winslet.
