New Ken Burns’ program comes to ThinkTV, CET

Posted by Kellie May on

The Address, a 90-minute documentary by Ken Burns, will be broadcast on ThinkTV16 and CET at 9pm Tuesday, April 15. In the film, Ken Burns tells the story of a tiny school in Putney, Vermont, the Greenwood School, where each year the students are encouraged to memorize, practice and recite the Gettysburg Address.

Through the exploration of Greenwood, whose students (boys ages 11-17) face a range of complex learning differences, the film also unlocks the history, context and importance of President Lincoln’s most powerful address.

CET and ThinkTV encouraged our communities to record their own Gettysburg Address videos. See the finalists on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqSvevVI2ir_oq6MKJPbhx7VmoC-gONa3.

Ken Burns also encouraged people around the country to showcase their own versions of the speech. You can see those here: http://www.learntheaddress.org/
