REMEMBERING THE FLOOD OF '37

To this day, January 1937 remains the wettest month ever recorded in Ohio. Record-setting rains pushed the Ohio River and its tributaries over their banks and into the streets and homes of friends and neighbors.

What do you remember?

CET invites the community to share photos, stories and video about the January 1937 flood of the Ohio River, which affected so many of our communities. Deadline for submissions is Jan. 8, 2007. CET will select some of the stories, photos and videos to appear on CETconnect.org beginning the week of January 15.

Here’s how you can participate!

Photos
Email an electronic copy of the image to Amanda Carnes - acarnes@cetconnect.org. The image file should be in a large .jpg (100 dpi or greater) format. Please include in your email your name, address, telephone number, email address and photo description.

Not sure how to scan your image? Mail us your photo and include a self-addressed stamped envelope for its return. Send to Amanda Carnes, CET, 1223 Central Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45214. Download the release, which may be submitted by email, fax (513-381-7520) or postal mail.

Stories
You can email your story to Amanda Carnes - acarnes@cetconnect.org. There’s no need to format (adding bold or italics or fancy type) -- in fact we’d prefer you didn’t. Type directly into your email or attach a Microsoft Word document and send to to Amanda Carnes - acarnes@cetconnect.org. Please precede your story with your name, address, telephone number, email address and topic information.

Video
If you would like to interview someone on camera about the flood of 1937, please download the necessary information and forms. Original materials will need to be submitted on Mini-DV, BetaSP or DVD. CET is not able to return videos; however, the owner may make arrangements to pick up their video at CET.

Questions? Please contact Amanda Carnes by email or by phone at 513-345-6566.
