CETconnect is pleased to present History, Antiques and Loomis, a series
of videos that bring to life the beautiful and historic objects that surround us. Host Frank Farmer Loomis IV, a full-time independent appraiser and member of the International Society of Appraisers, entertains with his extensive knowledge of and imaginative insight into objects we may own and places we enjoy and admire.
CET Program Director Grace Hill has worked with Frank since the 1980s. "Frank has a way of bringing antiques and collectibles to life. He'll give more than just an appraisal, he'll give you an anecdote about what it was used for, who made it, who may have used it. It's like a mini-history lesson without the boring parts." Through his broad experience and with his easy-going and unprententous style, Frank entertains and educates collectors from beginners to experienced, helping them find pieces they can enjoy while avoiding costly mistakes. Frank has collected antiques all his life, with help from his Gram and Aunt Panny and says he could not imagine life without antiques. "Antiques brings such joy and de-stressing to our lives," he says, and his joy and enthusiasm brings out the antiques lover in all of us!
Frank is well-known to public television viewers for Is It Antique Yet, a series of programs on CET in the late 1980s which he hosted, wrote and

co-produced.
"When I was shopping for antiques I remembered a segment Frank did on woods for Is it Antique Yet?," says Hill. "And that really
helped me make an informed decision and get the best bang for my buck." Following the successs of that television series, Frank produced a videotape series by the same name.
Frank's appeal to antiques buyers -- both new and seasoned -- is his love of antiques and his down-to-earth approach to the subject. He'll be the first to tell a beginner: "collect what you love and you will never go wrong." Grace Hill adds: "What's most important to Frank is that you like what you're buying. The monetary value doesn't matter. He wants you to feel good about what you bought and to actually use it, not stick it in a drawer or lock it away."
His radio career began at WCKY in 1983 -- and included appearances on the Bob Braun program on WLWT-TV in the mid 80s. He currently has talk shows on Cincinnati area radio stations, so new fans and faithful antique afficionados can find him hosting "Keep Antiquing!" shows on WNKU and WMKV and doing interviews for Around Cincinnati on 91.7WVXU.
Frank is also in demand as a syndicated Antiques columnist for Cox Newspapers and has written columns for Art & Antiques magazine. His books include Is It Antique Yet? (1998), Secrets to Affordable Antiques (2004) and Antiques 101 (2005) . Frank can also be found teaching antiques classes at the University of Cincinnati and Thomas More College in the Greater Cincinnati area.
