Our History Through Art

This new project from CET Learning Services uses a variety of technologies to introduce teachers and students to the exciting world of arts and technology integration. Through video, CD-ROM, and distance learning sessions with artists, the study of the immigrant cultures that developed the state of Ohio is brought to life. This project connects with numerous 3rd – 5th grade academic content standards in social studies, language arts, dance, music, theatre and visual arts.

Components of the program include:

  • What is arts integration?—a six-minute video that features teachers, students and an artist that have been successfully employing arts integration techniques at Shawnee Elementary School, a Lakota Local School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
  • CD-ROM—introductory materials that cover the theories behind arts integration, an example of an arts integrated unit, and lesson plans that support each distance learning session
  • Distance Learning—videoconferencing sessions with artists in November 2004

Arts ConnectionsCulture Collage is a project developed by the Arts Initiatives team at CET Learning Services. In addition to projects such as these, the Arts Initiatives team manages a unique professional development program called CET Arts Connections for teachers who want to use arts integration in their classrooms and schools.

All project materials are available for downloading on this website at no cost to you. If you would like to order your own copy of the CD and video, or if you are interested in more information about this introductory arts integration program, contact Lauren Hess, Arts Projects Manager, at 513-345-6523 or lhess@cetconnect.org
