Erich Kunzel: A Cincinnati Legacy
In celebration of Erich Kunzel's life and work, CET premiered Erich Kunzel: A Cincinnati Legacy, on July 4th, 2010.
Erich Kunzel and his wife Brunhilde sailing Whether he was conducting the orchestra in a concert at Music Hall, Riverbend or in one of our community's great parks, Erich Kunzel was the consummate cheerleader for his city, and for the young talent he found here. Erich Kunzel: A Cincinnati Legacy shares insight into the life of this creative, driven maestro, through stories told by his closest friends and colleagues. Keith Lockhart, Steven Reineke, and Vince Lee describe how he mentored and motivated them to excel. Doc Serverinsen shares some behind-the-scenes stories of his musical collaborator and Erich's long-time friend Henry Coe offers a look into his private life at Kunzel's home on Swans Island, Maine. The program concludes with the realization of his dream for a world class new School for Creative and Performing Arts.
CET has had a long relationship with Maestro Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. We have been privileged to share his music and enthusiasm for our community with national audiences. We cherish the memory of his remarkable career, numerous holiday specials, and extraordinary patriotism for this country, as well as his love for Cincinnati.
