About the College-Conservatory of Music

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is recognized both nationally and internationally as one of the leading conservatories of the performing arts and electronic media. CCM is also the largest performing arts presenter in the state of Ohio, producing nearly 1,000 public events each year.

Vocal Arts Ensemble presents The Unicorn

The Vocal Arts Ensemble, under the direction of Earl Rivers will be joined by the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's Dance Department and Chamber Players to perform Gian Carlo Menotti's The Unicorn, the Gorgon, and the Manticore. Nathan Bick, Operations Manager of the Vocal Arts Ensemble and Amanda Browning and Matt Stern from CCM's Dance department talk with Gregory Wool about the upcoming concert. Performances are March 1st and 2nd at CCM's Corbett Auditorium and Loveland's St. Margaret of York Catholic Church, respectively. Each program also features an outstanding area children's choir – Cincinnati Children's Choir - Bel Canto Choir on March 1st and York Youth Singers on March 2nd. CCM's Miss Lonelyhearts

In CETconnect Arts & Culture, this week's video on demand features the Opera department at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's Midwest premiere of Miss Lonelyhearts. The production is a collaboration between CCM, The Juilliard School, the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. Composer Lowell Liebermann and libretist J.D. McClatchy have created a dark, yet comic work based on the 1933 novella by Nathanael West. Director Ken Cazan discusses the production with Jonathan Silver.

Jim Bissland on Ohio's role in the Civil War

Jim Bissland, author of Blood, Tears, and Glory: How Ohioans Won the Civil War explains the vital role Ohio played in this pivotal time in our nation's history. Many important battles were fought on the western front but these are often downplayed in history books. Blacks and women made important but often overlooked contributions in the conflict.

CCM's Feast of Carols is fast approaching! Feast of Carols, the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music's holiday tradition is just around the corner. Dr. Earl Rivers, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies at University of Cincinnati's College-Conservaotry of Music and David Bell, Director of Winton Woods High School Choral Program, join Joy Lanceta to talk about the upcoming concerts.
