About Goodwill

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries has been providing skill training and job placement in the Greater Cincinnati community since 1916. Celebrating its 91st anniversary of service this year, Goodwill is a non-profit organization in the important business of helping men and women with disabilities attain their highest vocational potential. One of the guiding principles of the organization is that its mission can only be accomplished through a team effort and service provision is the highest staff priority. The mission of Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is to provide vocational rehabilitation services to physically, mentally, psychologically and socially and vocationally handicapped persons of working age for the purpose of maximizing their vocational independence and achieving their vocational goals. It is in support of this mission, that Goodwill works in partnership with the larger community. Goodwill prides itself on its organized outcomes evaluation system which focuses on the effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction of persons served. Information gained from customers and the community is used to plan improvements and service options at the individual and organizational levels. Outcome data are made available in an understandable format and communicated in a timely manner to all interested parties. In 2006, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries served 2600 people and helped 735 obtain community employment through services provided in 4 different locations. Ohio Valley Goodwill has been honored to be selected as a finalist for the BBB Torch Awards consistently since 2003 and has been recognized with the Award of Excellence from its largest referral partner, the Hamilton County Board of MR/DD in 2002, 2004 and most recently, March of 2006. Additionally, Goodwill’s recent accreditation survey found 27 areas of strong and exemplary performance and cited zero recommendations for improvement. This is an extraordinary accomplishment as only 3 percent of CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) surveys result in no recommendations.
