The StoryCorps Project

What is your story? Everyone has a story -- whether you realize it or not. From May 15-June 7, you and your story can become part of our nation's history through StoryCorps.

StoryCorps was established to create an oral history of regular citizens, allowing everyday people to preserve personal stories for their own families, and for future generations to hear. Participants reserve an hour-long recording session at the StoryCorps StoryBooth to interview someone they know - loved ones, friends, or members of their community. At the end of the session, the participants receive a CD copy to take home, and, with their permission, another copy will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

The StoryCorps Project will be in Cincinnati May 15 - June 7 to record stories. 91.7WVXU's Maryanne Zeleznik talks with Terry Scott, Senior Coordinator for StoryCorps Mobile, about StoryCorps and how people can take part in this project.

If you have a story you'd like to tell, you can make a reservation by calling StoryCorps at 1-800-850-4406 or by visiting the StoryCorps website. StoryCorps is sponsored by National Public Radio and affiliated with the Library of Congress.

FOCUS - Democratic Candidates Forum, Ohio 2nd Congressional District

On this special episode of Focus Kathy Lehr is joined by 91.7WVXU news director Maryanne Zeleznik and Howard Wilkinson, political reporter for The Cincinnati Enquirer to talk with the Democratic candidates for Ohio's Second Congressional District.

The Second Congressional District of Ohio is a district in southern Ohio. It is currently represented by Republican Jean Schmidt.

In planning this program, an invitation to appear was extended to all of the Democratic Candidates who are on the primary ballot. William R. Smith was unable to join us during this debate but appreciated the invitation. We also planned a similar debate with the Republican candidates but only one candidate agreed to appear. Instead, we have offered the Republican candidates the opportunity to tape a five-minute presentation that will allow them to introduce themselves and their platform to the voters. You can see that video exclusively on CET's Election 2008 website starting Thursday, February 28 at 7pm.
