Champion’s Don Jones volunteers as CET Action Auction chair

Long-time CET supporter, sponsor excited to take on leadership role

This year, CET will celebrate the 46th anniversary of the CET Action Auction with long-time supporter and sponsor Don Jones at the helm. Jones, the president and C.O.O. of Champion, volunteered to be the chair for the event.

“I’m excited to be able to serve as this year’s auction chair. The Action Auction is CET’s biggest fundraiser and the proceeds ensure that the organization can continue to provide arts and educational programming and services in our community,” Jones said. “I’m proud to be a long-time sponsor and supporter and I’m looking forward to being this year’s chair.”

The 2013 Action Auction will be broadcast live on CET from 5pm to 11pm Wednesday, April 10, through Friday, April 12, and from 3pm to 11pm Saturday, April 13. CET is still looking for volunteers and item donations for the auction, especially gift certificates, tickets to sporting events, experience packages, travel certificates, home goods, furniture, artwork and more.

Opportunities for event sponsorship also are available at a variety of levels starting at only $300. Being a sponsor means associating your business with the quality programs and services CET offers to the Greater Cincinnati community.

“Support of the Action Auction is a true win-win because local sponsors benefit from association with this cause and with public television. Our many tri-state viewers recognize and appreciate the contributions of Action Auction sponsors,” said CET Community Events Manager Joycee Simendinger, who oversees the auction.

Donation, sponsorship and volunteer information can be found on the CET website at or by calling Mary MacDowell at 513-345-6579. You also can check out some of the items that will be up for auction by visiting the website – and don’t forget that wine night will be back this year on Saturday!

“We’re really hoping to continue the success of the Action Auction with the help and support of our community,” Jones said. “Please consider getting involved as a sponsor, donor or volunteer.”
