BRIDGES for a Just Community 2010 Honoree Dr. Stanley Kaplan
Dr. Stanley M. Kaplan has been described as a visionary, working to make Cincinnati a world-class center for arts & culture. His commitment to the arts extended to serving on the boards of the major arts institutions (Cincinnati Art Museum, Playhouse in the Park, Fine Arts Fund, Cincinnati Ballet, etc.) and is reflected in his leadership at the Contemporary Arts Center in getting Zaha Hadid -- her first U.S. commission and first art museum for a female architect -- for the CAC building. Dr. Kaplan is also a talented artist himself, as well as sculptor and photographer.
A psychiatrist by profession, Dr. Kaplan joined the faculty at the University of Cincinnati and eventually became a full professor. To this day, he remains committed to education.
At this time, in addition to his philanthropic activities, Dr. Kaplan serves as UC professor emeritus and continues to teach and work as a psychiatrist.
