Focus - 2012 World Choir Games
The seventh World Choir Games -- the largest international choral competition in the world – is coming to North America for the first time next year. It will be held right here in Cincinnati. The Olympics of choral music will bring 20,000 participants and tens of thousands of visitors from more than 70 countries to Cincinnati from July 4 through 14, 2012 for what will be the largest and most significant international arts event in our city’s history. There will be 23 different musical categories will be offered including barbershop, folklore, jazz, pop, gospel and spiritual.
On this episode of Focus, Kathy Lehr discusses what festivities are planned such as the entertainment-packed opening and closing ceremonies that will feature choirs dressed in the traditional attire from their home country.
