Lincoln and the Jews

Dr. Gary Zola, Director of the American Jewish Archives, describes Lincoln's special relationship with American Jews.  The AJA's digital archives contains many rare Lincoln documents.  Rabbi Zola highlights those in which Lincoln appoints the first Jewish chaplain to the army,  another  in which Lincoln rescinds an order issued by U.S. Grant expelling Jews from American territory, and a diary of a Jewish imigrant who was the first to send the Emancipation Proclamation across the U.S.
