Starling Chamber Orchestra
On this episode of SHOWCASE WITH BARBARA KELLAR, Kurt Sassmannshaus discusses the Starling Chamber Orchestra.
Founded by Kurt Sassmannshaus, the Starling Chamber Orchestra offers artists ages 10-18 the opportunity to perform as soloists, tour internationally, and make recordings. In March 2000, the Starling Chamber Orchestra released its first educational video, Classical Quest, which was distributed to public schools throughout Ohio for free. The program aired on 32 public television stations nationwide, including CET, and earned numerous awards.
The Cincinnati Starling Project is a specialized educational program for talented young string players. Offering both private lessons and a comprehensive program that includes chamber music and music theory, the students are thoroughly exposed to the rich tradition of classical music. Additionally, many students play in the Starling Chamber Orchestra.
During this episode members of the Starling Chamber Orchestra, violinists Christina Nam, Skye Park and Lilyanne Thoroughman, perform alongside pianists Song Hun Nam and Kwi Im Kim.
