Surviving The Teens - Joe Stima's Story
CET Kids & Families raises awareness for mental health issues and suicide with the story of Joe Stima, a young man who did not survive his depression. His mother Kathy Winter explains how parents can find the words to talk to their children about this issue and obtain resources through the Surviving the Teens Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Ms. Winter talks with Catherine Strunk, a psychiatric nurse with Children's Hospital and the director of the Surviving the Teens Program. They also describe the warning signs all parents should be aware of and stress the idea that depression and suicide can happen to anyone's child.
