Voices of Giving: Christine Buttress, Esq
In the 1980s Chris became a member and a volunteer for CET's largest fundraiser. Throughout the late '80s and '90s, she also willingly devoted her expertise as an attorney to further CET's future - authoring planned giving articles for the member magazine and offering an estate planning seminar for donors.
In 2006, CET relaunched planned giving as one of its top strategic initiatives. Immediately ''on board,'' Chris proceeded to recruit 15 of the finest IRS, legal and financial planning talents from across the city to form CET's planned giving committee. Under Chris' leadership, the committee has guided board and staff in developing a phenomenally successful program. When they began in 2006, CET was aware of only 4 planned giving donors. Just 4 years later, there are 60 CET Visionaries of record.
Many of these CET Visionaries came to make their gifts to CET thanks to Chris' encouragement. She has worked with numerous clients and donors and helped them find the best ways to transform their passion for public broadcasting into lasting, perpetual support of CET. Our thanks to Chris for her seminal role in helping CET in its quest to ''engage, enlighten, entertain and educate'' our community and enrich our lives for generations to come.
