Voices of Giving: Heidi Jark and Steve Kenat
Heidi Jark and Steve Kenat have been long-time supporters and volunteers of the American Cancer Society.
As a sophomore in college, Heidi was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. Undergoing surgery and radiation treatments, Heidi battled cancer and won. This year, she will celebrate her 27th year as a cancer survivor. Early in her career, Heidi became involved with the American Cancer Society in Indiana. She has since served as President and Board Member for the Hamilton County Board and has also chaired many ACS events including Daffodil Days and Relay for Life.
Heidi's husband, Steve Kenat, an architect with GBBN, has served on the American Cancer Society's Board of Directors in both Indiana and Ohio and is currently the Secretary for the Hamilton County Board. Steve was also instrumental in the development of the American Cancer Society's Musekamp Family Hope Lodge, which provides no cost housing for cancer patients and their caregivers who are traveling to Cincinnati for surgery or treatment.
Through their generous planned gift of life insurance, Heidi and Steve have chosen to help fund cancer research, patient services and support early detection and prevention programs.
Heidi and Steve continue to share greatly of their time, talent and treasure with the American Cancer Society and are making a difference in the fight against cancer. Even their daughter, Cat, can often be found joining them at various ACS events. They are patient advocates and true inspirations to those around them. They are shining examples of dedication and hope for a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
