Voices of Giving: Marion Wuest Fanning
Nominated by: Bayley Place
Marion Wuest Fanning is a resident of Bayley Place and has been a generous supporter for many years. She is a member of the Mother Margaret George Memorial Society, has attended numerous special events at Bayley, and, most recently, has embraced the new endowment initiative for the Pastoral Care Department.
Marion was born and raised in Cincinnati – daughter of Herbert and Helen Wuest. She and her husband, James Fanning, raised their own family of three adopted children here as well. When her husband passed away suddenly, she entered the family business, Adam Wuest, Inc. Upon her father’s passing, she became co-owner of the business with her cousin, Mary Jane Deye, until the business was sold in 1999.
Throughout her lifetime, Marion has been a champion of philanthropy, continuing her own family’s generous legacy by supporting many organizations throughout the Cincinnati community and by establishing the Wuest Family Foundation.
Marion’s generous bequest to the Pastoral Care Endowment Fund at Bayley Place has particular meaning for her. As her own life and abilities began to change markedly, the Pastoral Care Department has been at her side to help guide her through difficult life transitions with a sense of grace and optimism. Marion has seen, firsthand, the holistic approach at Bayley which has allowed the nurturing of her spirit along with outstanding medical care for the body.
Marion’s current and future gifts will help Bayley Place become a stronger and more viable institution. Her gesture of leaving a planned gift will also inspire others. Her generous example will help ensure that future generations of older adults and their families will benefit from the same compassion and care that she herself has received. It is a great honor to recognize Marion Wuest Fanning for her enduring devotion to the mission and work of Bayley Place.
