Unforgettable characters, exciting plots, and expressive illustrations make the difference between a good story and a great one. The PBS KIDS Writers & Illustrators Contest offers children in Kindergarten through Third Grade an opportunity to build critical literacy skills by creating their own stories.

The PBS KIDS Writers & Illustrators Contest is a local contest for children in the CET viewing area encompassing Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. The Contest is designed to promote hands-on, active learning. Students create their own stories and illustrations and submit their original work. The entry deadline is January 12, 2018.

Each entrant will receive a certificate, a children’s book and an invitation to a reception at the Main Branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. 1st, 2ndand 3rd place winners in each grade level will also receive:

•  a digitized version of their story shared on cetconnect.org
•  a bound collection of all winning stories
•  ​a gift certificate to a local bookstore

CET encourages all students in our viewing area, Kindergarten through Third Grade, to participate. See links below for complete Contest Rules , Official Entry Form, and other resources to assist in writing your story.
