Hey, this is Rodney from the Art Show. I cannot believe that the autumnal months are here. This is my favorite time of the year. I love the magic of the leaves turning red, orange, and golden yellow. And of course, bring on the apple cider and a chance to wear some fabulous sweaters!

Most people are prepping for the marathon march of back-to-back holidays, starting with the excitement for Halloween. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for a bag of sugary treats, but I am most looking forward to the start of the Arts Season. There is nothing like the opportunity to see and experience some fantastic art and performances, and I love getting to highlight some of the tremendous events happening in Southwest Ohio. This is why I am looking forward to the next edition of the FotoFocus Biennal.

The FotoFocus Biennial, now in its 7th edition, is a truly unique regional showcase of photography in Southwest Ohio. While I appreciate various visual art forms, there’s something special about a photography exhibition. It sparks a different kind of dialogue about technology, art and our society’s complex relationship with mediated imagery and art creation. It’s deep and thought-provoking, yet also wonderfully captivating. 

Spanning over 107 projects at 86 venues across Greater Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Northern Kentucky and many points in between, the FotoFocus Biennial offers a diverse range of locations to explore. This gives you the chance to experience novel sites and immerse yourself in a fantastic collection of regional, national and international photographic art, as well as the unique sights and experiences these communities offer. 

Most exhibits open October 1^st, with many on display until the end of the year, so you can prepare your visit and map out mini-trips to explore this sprawling, unique art experience. I have mapped out several trips for myself and cannot wait. Maybe I will see some of you in the galleries and spaces in the upcoming month, so let’s compare notes!
