Meet The Helpers Releases New Helper Videos

“When I was a boy and would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” – Fred Rogers.

The world can be a big and scary place, especially for kids. To help children understand the helpers in their community, WUCF in Florida created “Meet the Helpers,” a collection of videos, activities and educational resources aimed at introducing the helpers in the community. Created in mid-2018, the collection originally focused on helpers like police officers, firefighters, 911 operators and more.

Today there are new helpers featured in the collection – a scientist, mental health counselor, youth helpers and line worker. These new additions reflect many of the challenges our community has faced over the last year. Meet these new helpers and work through these activities with your children to help them understand the roles we all play in making our community safer, together.
