Milestone Celebrations with Sir David Attenborough and PBS
In 1976, Sir David Attenborough embarked on an ambitious three-year global odyssey to film Life on Earth, an innovative documentary of unprecedented scale. Attenborough and his team traveled to 40 countries to document over 600 species, forever changing his life and natural history filmmaking.
Fifty years after production began, and in celebration of Attenborough’s 100th birthday on May 8, Life on Earth: Attenborough’s Greatest Adventure offers rare, behind-the-scenes insight into the making of the groundbreaking series. Since Life on Earth, Attenborough has built a legacy as the most influential wildlife filmmaker of all time, with a filmography representing a lifetime of incredible achievements. PBS has featured a myriad of series and films starring or narrated by Attenborough, including documentaries with Nature and NOVA.
