Public Media Connect, the regional public media
partnership of CET in Cincinnati and ThinkTV in Dayton, won four
2019 Regional Emmy Awards from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy
of Television Arts and Sciences. Winners were announced August 10, 2019 during
the Emmy Gala at the Louisville Marriott Downtown in Louisville, Kentucky.
Here’s a little about each of the winning films:
20 Seconds of Courage: Fighting the Opioid Addiction in Rural Ohio
Documentary – Cultural/Topical and
Photographer – Program
Richard Wonderling, Jason Wilson and Joe Crane
In 2016, Ohio farmer Roger Winemiller lost two of his three
children to heroin overdoses. His one surviving child, a twenty-year user, was
in recovery. Faced with overwhelmed and underfunded rural support services,
Roger and others in his town began reaching out to addicts and their families.

The Art Show: BLINK
BLINK transformed downtown Cincinnati with light displays
and interactive exhibits in 2017 and will return in 2019. Portraits by
photographer Tariq Tarey introduce Columbus residents to their new
Bhutanese-Nepali neighbors. Rochester, New York artist Andrea Durfee finds
inspiration in ancient mythology. Travel to Detroit to meet world champion ice

Our Ohio: Tiger Mushroom Farms
Te’Lario Watkins II founded Tiger Mushroom Farms when he was
just seven years old. Based near Cleveland, Griffin Cider Works specializes in
high quality, English-style hard ciders. Carillon Brewery serves, “History
by the pint”, by using traditional techniques from the late 1800s. watch
