Sensory Play
Edible Sensory Play
Materials Needed
- Graham Crackers
- Candy Melts
- Silicone Candy Mold
- Tupperware Container
- Food Processor
Directions:
- Break apart your graham crackers and place them into a food processor until they are turned into a fine, sand-like texture. PRO TIP: Buy a box or two of graham cracker crumbs and skip this step.
- Place half of the “sand” into your Tupperware container and set to the side.
- Melt your candy melts according to the instructions and then pour into your mold. You can choose whatever type of mold interests your kiddos! Allow the melted candy to completely set up before removing it from the mold.
- Place your candy pieces onto the layer of graham crackers, and then cover with the remaining graham cracker “sand” to hide all of the candy pieces.
- Let your children use paint brushes, spoons – any kind of small, child-safe tool – to dig through the dirt and find those hidden treasures! Remember that this entire sensory bin is edible, so they can even dive right in with their hands if they want!
- In between uses, you can seal your Tupperware container with a lid and store for 2-3 months before it expires.
“Keep Germs Away” Sensory Play
Materials Needed
- Ziploc bag
- Baby Oil
- Assorted Pompoms
- Marker
- Tape
Directions:
- Outline your kiddos hands on the outside of the Ziploc bag with a marker and allow to dry completely.
- Fill the inside of the bag with baby oil. For a small bag, it only takes a few tablespoons.
- Let you kiddo help out and add the pompoms, AKA “germs” into the bag. Seal it up and then tape the bag to the countertop surface.
- Move all of the “germs” so that they are inside the outline of their hands, and then let your little ones wash their hands free of all the germs! They can use their fingers to push them away or you can let them use a little scrub brush or sponge to clean them.
