Southern Sweet Potato Casserole

Looking for a dish to take to a holiday family gathering? This sweet potato casserole is a true southern dish sure to wow the entire family!

Sweet Potato Filling:
  • Three Sweet Potatoes
  • 1/3 cup of Butter
  • 1 cup of Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup of Milk
  • 1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
Topping:
  • 1 cup of Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup of Flour
  • 1/3 cup of Crushed Pecans
  • 3 tablespoons of Melted Butter
  • Mini Marshmallows

Instructions:

  1. Peel and chop up the sweet potatoes and place in boiling water until soft.
  2. Mix the cooked sweet potatoes, milk, granulated sugar, butter, and vanilla together with a hand mixer until well combined.
  3. Transfer to a prepared baking dish and spread out evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the ingredients for the topping and mix well.
  5. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and add mini marshmallows on top.
  8. Place back into the oven for an additional 10 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown.
