Treat Yourself Bath Bombs

Whether or not you’re in a relationship this Valentine’s Day, these easy-to-make bath bombs are a great way to show yourself some much-deserved love and affection this year! Learn how to make these beautiful multicolored bath bombs on this “Hobby Hunting” article. We all deserve to get a gift for ourselves sometimes!

Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • 1-2 small to medium-sized bowls (can hold at least 8 ounces)
  • 8 ounces of baking soda
  • Dried flower petals (optional but you can never go wrong with rose petals!)
  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
  • ½ tablespoon of water
  • 15 drops of essential oil (lavender and vanilla are used in this article)
  • 4-6 drops of food coloring or mica coloring powder (purple and pink mica powder packets are used in this article)
  • 1 small bath bomb mold
  • Teaspoon
  • Tablespoon
  • Water
  • 4 ounces of Epsom salt
  • 4 ounces of corn starch
  • 4 ounces citric acid
  • Measuring cup

The Easy How-To:

Step One: Mix the Epsom salt, cornstarch, baking soda and citric acid together until well blended to make the bath bomb mixture. Add dried flower petals now too if you wish! (Tip: Use your hands to help break up the clumps!)

Step Two: Evenly separate the bath bomb mixture between two bowls.

Step Three: Add food coloring to one bowl and stir until you get your desired color. Then add different food coloring to your second bowl and stir until you reach your desired second color. If using mica powder, add ½ teaspoon of the colored powder of your choice to your first bowl, then add a different ½ teaspoon of colored powder to the second bowl and then stir both bowls until they change color.

Step Four: Add a ½ of a teaspoon of coconut oil and then add it to both bowls. Then take your essential oil and put about 15 drops of it into one of the bowls containing the mixture. After that, you can use the same essential oil or use two different ones by adding another essential oil to the other bowl. Then stir in both bowls until well mixed.

Step Five: Add ¼ of a teaspoon of water to one bowl slowly and stir. If the mixture starts fizzing, then quickly stir it back in with the unfizzy mixture. Add water until it has a damp sand feel. Repeat for the second bowl.

Step Six: Scoop the mixture into the bath bomb mold and press the mixture in until the mold is full and the mixture is packed in tight. Let it sit for at least five minutes and then gently squeeze the mold until the bath bomb comes out.

Step Seven: Voila! You have bath bombs that you can treat yourself to this Valentine’s Day!
